Hello everyone!

Today we are going to learn how to write a leaflet. But, first do you know what is a leaflet?

A leaflet is a printed sheet of paper, sometimes folded, containing information or advertising and usually distributed for free.

The main purpose of a leaflet can be:

  • To inform people about something
  • To persuade people to buy something or to donate.
Writing a leaflet

1. Start writing a catchy heading.

2. Use sub-headings to organize your information. Try to use a sub-heading per topic, so your information will be organized.

3. Write several short paragraphs in the body.

4. Finish your leaflet by writing a concluding paragraph that briefly restates what you already said, you can add suggestions or recommendations in this paragraph.

For example:

Hello everybody!

Have you seen brochures in your life? I am pretty sure that you have seen lots of them. But, do you know how to write a brochure? Well, I guess no. Don´t worry! Today, I will teach you how to write a brochure.

To start with, it is important to know that a brochure is a useful document to inform people about a specific topic. Also, there are brochures of two columns or three columns, because if they have more columns they are not brochures, they are pamphlets ( another day I will explain them to you). So, first think  many information you want to include in order to decide if you will need to write two or three columns. Then, write an eye-catching headline using a big size font. After that, write a subheading, it can be big as well, but not as big as the headline. Next, write down everything you want to share. You can use bullet points if you want, quotes, and you can even separate the information by categories by writing more than one subheading into the body of your brochure.  Finally, write down a concluding paragraph which includes contact information such as, contact person, telephone number, email address and a P.O.Box if there is one.  For example:

1. Start with an eye-catching title.
2. Mention your name and last name as the person who posted the blog entry, followed by the date and time of the entry.
3. Write down a brief introductory paragraph which includes a general overview of your entry.
4. Develop several body paragraphs, however, don´t forget to write one paragraph per topic. So, it will be more organized and well structured.
5. Write a concluding paragraph in which you can restate what you already said in a briefly way. Also, you can add tips or suggestions into this paragraph.

Hello everybody!

Starting this week, I want to share the different text types that the IB requested students to create in their written assignment or in paper 2. This, due to most of these text types are very difficult to find in both books and on the internet.

Today, I am going to explain how to write an article. First of all, write an eye-catching headline or title. Second, write an introductory paragraph that summarizes the most important points of your article. Third, write the body of your article into several short paragraphs. Fifth, write a conclusion which states the main points of what you already said in the body. For example:
